On May 17 of every year, the International Day Against Homophobia serves to unite people under the common causes of fighting homophobia and embracing acceptance and love for all people.
The theme of this year’s campaign is “Sexual diversity in the workplace: it pays off!” The idea is that LGBT people live and work all over the world and deserve the same rights and respect as their heterosexual coworkers.
The site linked above includes all kinds of background information about the day itself, the group in charge and resources you can turn to. Today’s a big day - make it count!

“Avoiding confrontation is simple, don’t offend anyone, or if you do apologize, golden rule here, i mean we were taught it in kindergarten.”
…Sooo, apparently rape happens because someone offended someone else! All rape will cease if we…
“There is no reason that rape happens other than a rapist decides to rape” - This. A million times, this.
Rape is not something we should dismiss, ignore, excuse or claim is an unchangeable fact of life. Victim-blaming doesn’t solve the problem - it makes more problems. It pushes conversations about consent out of the public arena, it makes survivors’ lives difficult, it encourages rape culture, it absolves rapists… You know, there isn’t a single benefit to victim-blaming.
A lot of ignorant comments about responsibility are due to people misunderstanding threats and risks. This is a fantastic link which explains about threat and risk management regarding sexual assault and gendered violence: http://streetharassmentdisruption.blogspot.co.uk/2011/06/victim-blaming-threats-and-risks.html

I love everything about this
My mom came out to me and said she had an abortion more than 25 years ago. I mean yeah that was along time ago but still. I believe in abortion when it comes to the mothers health, incest, or rape. My mother had it because she was a dumb slut who opened her legs without…
“[Emer O’Toole] revealed underarm beards that would have made Osama bin Laden proud.”
“Yikes, it was horrible. As were her hairy legs to match. Watching her I nearly parted company with my breakfast.”
“the only hair that belongs on a woman is on her head.”
“Hairiness is just unfeminine.”
“If only men knew the way to tell if a woman is losing interest in them is how often she has her bikini line waxed or shaves her legs.”
“Body hair is clear signal you’re not interested in sex — with him, anyway.”
(Of course! Any woman who doesn’t shave her legs is a lesbian…)
At the very end of her forthy-mouthed tirade she adds:“While I respect any woman’s right to establish her own relationship between her body and her body hair — even if that involves going on national TV looking like a gorilla — nothing will ever part me from my shaver, tweezers, waxes and beloved Epilady.”
Despite the fact that the rest of the article is anything but respectful of other people’s rights to do whatever the fuck they like with their own fucking body.

Like Emer O’Toole gives a shit what you want.
*Horror* When will women learn that natural body hair is a gross abomination to human dignity and sexuality?!

This is my youngest daughter, Ava. I felt that I needed to share the conversation she and I had after a school field trip today.
Ava: Mommy, we saw Princesses skating on the ice!!
Me: Wow!! Did you have fun?
Ava: Yeah, but there is a best part!!
Me: What was it?
Ava: We got to meet the Princesses and I asked Snow White if she had a boyfriend.
Me: (Laughing) Did you? What did she say?
Ava: She said she did and then she asked me if I had one!! And I said I had one, but I didn’t like him any more.
Me: Oh. Well, how come you don’t like him anymore?
Ava: Because I like my other friend now and then I got scared and asked her if I could still be a princess and she asked why so I told her that my friend I like is a girl and I want to have a girlfriend.
Me: (a bit surprised) Oh. Ok, well what did she tell you?
Ava: That’s the best part! She said that as long as I have love I already AM a Princess!!
